Course Title: COMPASSION DEVELOPMENT 1
Course Syllabus:
- Basic understanding and knowledge of compassion
- Psychological and social attributes
- Social invention of compassion theory
- The application of compassion in social welfare professions
- The compassionate power in mental illness healing
- The social psychological game in compassion in Health profession
Credit unit:
2 units credited toward a BA in Buddhism or Sociology (48 units)
Course Length:
26 continuous weeks and 4 hours in class per week
Course Structure:
- First week orientation and instruction
- from second week onward students are required to present their papers on approved selected topic in class and subject to peer assessment. Final marks given by the responsible teacher.
- The final open book examination shall be conducted at the designated site or inside the Embassy of Australia in Hochiminh city
Method of study:
- Distant learning through online access to the library
- Materials and Learning is conducted in English
Assessment:
- One class presentation = 20% marks
- Participation in class = 10 % marks
- Essay = 20%
- Final examination = 50% marks
Outcome:
- Certificate of completion the subject with marks
- Unit credited toward BA degree in Buddhism or Sociology

Lay person: $1000 per unit.
Exemption considered for special financial disadvantages and ordained sangha members.
